COLOR CODING

Red: Unknown graves, no tombstones, not listed in Cemetery Inscriptions,
only named & listed on the blue prints. These 'unknown burials' were
the reason for me to compile the following records. (mjsm)

Black: Graves listed on the blue prints, but are already listed in Cemetery
Inscriptions.

Green: Personal notes by compiler, & some Death Certificates records.

Purple: Unknowns, the people who made the blue prints did not know who
was buried at the site, so they just listed them as "unknown." There
is one large section of the cemetery listed as unknown.

I personally knew the late Wilma Dunlap, who published the great book "Cemetery Inscriptions of Clark County," and I know that she was very dedicated to her work. I believe her book to be the best research source in Clark County. But the 'red' graves that I have recorded from the blue prints, did not have any tombstones, or grave markings, therefore she was not able to record them in her book.

Stranger
Stranger (Very sad, two burials, apparently no one knew them, & they must not have had any identification on them). In the history book of Luray it mentions an unknown family just passing through the village, that became sick with cholera. The Luray residents thought these strangers brought the disease to Luray, which caused several deaths. These strangers might have been part of that transient family. In a small village the size of Luray everyone knew everyone, so they could not have been local residents). (mjsm)
