The attached picture was taken of Robert W. Ansell headstone, at the Malheur City Cemetery, Malheur City, County of Malheur, State of Oregon, United States of America. Other information: Letter from the overseer of Malheur City Cemetery, Malheur Co. OR
There were three Ansell graves. The first was that of a Robert Ansell, who was a civil war veteran. Another was of a woman( Clatie Ansell, daughter –in –law) and the third was a stone which marked the graves of two Ansell children ( Grandchildren of Robert)....no names.
There was no Manual Ansell, however, I imagine that one of the children could have been named Manual Ansell. I cannot find any information about them.
I did talk to a Mrs. Mary Ansell in La Grande whose husband was Clayton Ansell. Clayton was a grandson of the Robert Ansell who is buried in Malheur Cemetery. He was the man who had Robert's remains moved to Malheur from where he had been buried in the south.
Clayton and Mary lived in Ontario for many years. He was some kind of an administrator in the state highway office there in Ontario before moving to La Grande.2
