DOCKUM, WOOD posted by Garrett Johnson on Thursday, November 19, 1998

I don't have much information to go on, only what my oldest surviving relative has told me. My great-grandfather's name was Homer Hazo WOOD. He was born in Missouri in 1895. His parents lived for some time in the town of Wyaconda, Missouri. Their names were William Thomas WOOD and Annie Wood (her maiden name was Annie DOCKUM). Unfortunately, that is all the information I have. Any information in addition to this on any of them would be very helpfully. Thanks. Garrett Johnson

FOX, HOLLINGSWORTH, LEE, LONGSDON, MCDERMOTT, MITCHELL, PATRICK, REECE, REESE, REISCHLING, ROACH, SHUMAN, UHLMEYER, WELCH, WINGETT posted by Mark P. Shuman on Wednesday, November 25, 1998

Seeking information regarding John SHUMAN of Clark Co. MO. He is believed to have married (Mary) Elizabeth REECE (sometimes REESE), of unknown county, MO, probably around 1860. In addition to information regarding John Shuman, I am also interested in information concerning Elizabeth REECE and descendants. John SHUMAN and Elizabeth REECE had three known children: 1. Martha SHUMAN (REISCHLING), born 6 Feb 1862 in Lewis Co. MO, who married Joseph REISCHLING. They had at least six children, including: (i) Clara B. (REISCHLING) LONGSDON; (ii) Anna Mae (REISCHLING) UHLMEYER; (iii) Thomas REISCHLING; (iv) Lavaun (REISCHLING) ROACH; (v) Elsie (REISCHLING) FOX; and (vi) Mildred (REISCHLING) PaTTRICK (possibly spelled PATRICK?). Martha SHUMAN REISCHLING died at St. Patrick, Clark Co. on 5 Aug. 1935. 2. Charles Edward SHUMAN, born 31 Jan. 1864 in St. Patrick, Clark Co. Charles Edward apparently married Bridget Annie WELCH of Adair Co. in approximately 1888-1889. She was also known as Betty WELCH, and may have been named Bridget Elizabeth WELCH. They had seven children: (i) James William SHUMAN, born 12 Jul. 1890, unknown county MO, died 24 Sept. 1943, Hot Springs, Garland Co. Ark; (ii) Charles Alexis SHUMAN, born and died ? and buried at Highland Cemetery, Lawton, Comanche Co. OK; (iii) Patrick Gilbert SHUMAN, born 12 Jul. 1895, Atherton, Jackson Co. MO, died 27 May 1961, Lawton, OK, buried Highland Cemetery; (iv) Annie Marie SHUMAN (LEE), born 16 June 1898, Minden, Chariton, Co. MO, died Wayne Co. Mich. on 16 June 1986; (v & vi) twins who died as infants (1899?); and (vii) Dee SHUMAN (accidental death before 1910). Charles Edward SHUMAN died in Oil City, Stephens Co. OK in January of 1933 and is buried in Highland Cemetery in Lawton OK. Bridget (Betty or Annie) WELCH died in approximately 1903, place unknown. 3. William SHUMAN, born ?, died 22 Feb. 1920 in Butte Co. CA, who married Amanda Elizabeth (?). William and Amanda SHUMAN had at least ten children, including: John Thomas SHUMAN, William Foreman SHUMAN, Otha Lee SHUMAN, Charles Earl SHUMAN, Lily Elizabeth SHUMAN WINGETT, Eugene Elmer SHUMAN, Cecil Roy SHUMAN, Goldie SHUMAN HOLLINGSWORTH, Kenneth Bryan SHUMAN, and Gladys SHUMAN MITCHELL. I have undocumented information on some descendants. John SHUMAN, the father of Martha, Patrick Edward, and William, apparently died between 1864 and 1869. Elizabeth REECE remarried, to a Thomas MCDERMOTT born in Ireland. They had at least three additional children. I have limited, undocumented information on the three step-siblings. Real estate records in Harper County, OK state that Elizabeth REECE died in Clark Co. MO on 10 Oct. 1907. This preceded statewide registration of deaths in MO. I have additional information and am principally interested in researching the SHUMAN, REECE and WELCH surnames. If you are interested, please write me at: 4412 Eastwood Court, Fairfax VA 22032. Please do not reply by e-mail. I will reply promptly in writing to any letters concerning this family, ancestors or descendants. Mark P. Shuman

COOP, GRAY, HEINTZ, THORNTON posted by Steven Jones on Saturday, November 28, 1998

Looking for information on the name COOP. Joseph Allen & Mary (GRAY) COOP lived in Wayland, Clark Co, MO and had about 12 kids. Their daughter Martha Eliza (COOP) THORNTON was my grandmother. Martha was born about 1894 and was almost last on the list of children born to Joseph & Mary. I have found a birth record for a Garret Henry COOP in Montgomery Co, MO whose parents were Allen J. and Sarah (HEINTZ) COOP. Joseph had a brother named Garret, so I think this is the same family. Can anyone make a connection here? Any help will be greatly appreciated! Nancy Jones
